Thousands of different devices can be called machines, from calculators and televisions to trucks and aircraft. Scissors and staplers are very simple machines, while computers and cars are complicated. All have one thing in common — they help u do jobs and so make our lives easier.
Think about what you did yesterday Make a list of every thing you can remember that you used or saw, from when you woke up when you went back to bed. Many things that we take for granted, such as opening a can, cutting paper or tightening a screw, can only be done with a machine. Other jobs, such as washing clothes, used to be done by hand, but nowadays are usually done by these mechanical devices. Machines are being improved — and new ones invented — all the time. We may find that tasks that take a long time today become much easier and faster to do in the future.
